A World We Dare to Imagine Part 1

It would be much better if all the people in this world can live together in peace without worrying about money and how to get the money. In order to make this happen however, the rich must be willing to give up some of their money so that the poor can live a decent live. I think woman must get some equality as well because most women still experience discrimination in terms that women do not get equal pay as men do even though women sometimes might be more hardworking than the men do or have higher education than the men. If the top 10% of the world richest people share a bit of their money to support the poor, I believe there will be no more war, less crime committed and the world will be a better place for everyone else.

Azusa Now

So yesterday I went to the USC coliseum to go to an event called "Azusa Now". This is a Christian's event. The event had around 100 thousand people registered to attend. Even though out of these 100 thousand people only around 70-80 thousands who come, it was an amazing atmosphere all around the stadium. There also Bethel music band who is a very famous Christian music band.

The event ran from 7 am to 10:30 pm. Even though this seemed like a very long time, when you were there and you enjoyed the whole God's presence around the place, time flied by. It was also raining almost the whole time we were there but there were seemingly no one who complained there. When night time comes Bethel music came and performed, everyone was just singing praises and just enjoying themselves.

An Interview with Jacob Needleman

JB: So, if its not wealth, what does money represent?
JN: What is money? It's nothing and its everything at the same time.

This line in the interview has made me think. After some thinking, I feel that this particular answer by Jacob Needleman is very true. Money for some people, it is all that they can think about. For example, some people leave behind their family, never go home to their family, working so hard just to earn money that they forget that family and time is more important than money.

Genius of money post 2

Genius of Money Part 2 Chapter 6

The writer said that gift usually has increased value when it is received. I think that this is very true. This is because whenever we receive a gift from someone, we will feel happier. Thus, sometime people get happier when they give something. This made both the giver and the receiver both happier, making the value of the item itself increased.

The writer also mention that with every gift, there is an intention hidden behind it. For me, this particular reason is very true. There will always be an intention behind every gift whether it is intentional or unintentional. When we give something to anyone, we expect them to be happier when they receive our gift. We also sometimes expect people to give us on a particular occasion so we also give them gifts. This reason that the writer gives I feel is most true.

Chapter 1&13

In chapter 1, the writer begin by writing the story about the time Peter was confronted by a tax collector. Then the story continues to Jesus's encounter with Caesar, where Jesus said "render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's". I think this shows that God wants us to give back what we owe to others. The phrase things that are God's, however I feel that all the things in this world is given to us by God, hence making all we have His. I think what he meant when he said this things is to give him our time and to praise Him to give him what is His.

Then the writer introduces William Stafford’s “Deciding”, which wrote the same thing from a modern and less doctrinal point of view. In Stafford’s poem, he adds American consciousness beyond the spiritual level. Additionally, the context of currency—gold and money also show up in his poem, which presents the deep curse in religion’s point of view. It is genius for Stafford to combine the spiritual God with the physical world in the figure of gold. At the end of the chapter, the author concludes that the money is both material and spiritual, as Stafford points out, so the task of this book is to find third position of money that integrate the realities.

In chapter 13, the author talks about how money affects people mentally, the importance of money. People nowadays think of people who are rich as powerful and people who have a lot of control in society.

I think what this book talked about is very true in our real life. Nowadays in countries that are less developed people who don't have a lot of money don't have a lot of say in what is happening in the world. For example, in Indonesia where I was born and raise, everything is corrupt. The police in Indonesia can be bribed and the government too. This just show how much power money has in our community now.

Everyone knows that statistically the third time is the charm; not in Leonardo DiCaprio's case. As off 9 pm today Leo's struggle has ended. His 6th time being nominated has finally landed him an Oscar. His fans now can finally rejoice that Leonardo has been awarded for his amazing accomplishment.

Growing a Farmer-Part 2

Now that I have finished reading the Growing a Farmer book, I can again see how Kurt wrote this book with full of humor and his naivity about farming throughout the book. However, this is not all there is to the book. Kurt has also show in the book his perseverance even though he keeps on failing over and over again.

Kurt's perseverance bear him success towards the end. But, I don't think its all there is to him. I feel that Kurt also has a lot of luck in his side but the perseverance is definitely his key to success which I feel it should be applied to our own life. We might fail over and over again in something we do with our life, but if we keep on persevering and never giving up on it we will eventually get to where we wanted and achieve our goal.

Here are some quotes I find humorous in the book:

The deer debacle of the apple orchard quickly taught me my first lesson as a farmer: Nature is cruel. It is neither fair nor equitable.”

I would begin milking her that afternoon and the milk would begin to flow. As I look back now, I am grateful that I didn’t know what was to come, for fear of never starting out.”

“I have to admit that I learned this from experience; bad experience.”

“I knew that selling raw milk, or any milk for that matter, without a license was illegal. Oddly, I managed to put that fact out of my mind.”

“With matt’s help, I pushed this farm from a hobby to a business. A failing business, but a business nonetheless.”
